Hard Wood Floor Installation
Refinishing and Restoration
northwest Denver CO - Lakewood CO - Arvada CO

This Denver flooring project involved removing carpet and padding in the adjoining dining room and removing the tile and tile substrate in an adjoining entryway in order to install 2 1/4" red oak "toothed and laced" into existing thirty year old 2 1/4" red oak initially installed in living room. In order to "join" the rooms an existing wall of concrete block was removed to provide a level sub floor for new wood floor installation at the area where the existing wood floor gets laced into the new wood floor. The two rooms were initially at different heights. The sub floor was leveled to match the height of the old floor then a new sub floor of plywood is installed. The new hardwood was installed, matching the height of the existing hardwood and joining the two room into a larger living space.

When the new floor was finished the existing thirty year old area was sanded to remove the existing oil polyurethane finish. Then, both floors sanded, prepared and screened for the finishing process. In order to blend the areas a light stain was used followed by two coats of oil polyurethane and one coat of water based urethane to finish. The result is a unified floor throughout the entire living area with a durable and attractive finish.
